And it worked. People still think Diana was the Saint Magic Fairy Princess, and he was the devil incarnate despite abundance evidence to the contrary.
One of the many reasons William and Harry hate the media is because of how their parents battled it out in public, using the media against each other. Not surprising at all that they both do as much as possible to protect their kids from media intrusion.
They both tried to upstage each other. The War of the Wales was nasty but I think if she had lived they would eventually have sorted out their differences for the sake of their sons and future grandchildren. She would also have moved on with her life and found someone else.
I always found it scummy that neither of them seemed to care how their public “war” was embarrassing their young children
The more shit that comes out about Charles and Diana’s marriage, the more I realise it’s no surprise William and Harry have come away with the kind of issues they do.
I would take this with a pinch of salt. Its probably Charles view. It does not mean its true.
At the end of the divorce, the ironic thing is that Diana and Charles developed an amicable relationship, even a friendship. But then she died shortly afterwards. Hopefully that would have continued even as Charles remarried and then ascended the throne with Camilla as his Queen. I think that would have been hard for Diana to see but maybe her own fame and charitable endeavors would have continued to grow to the point that she would have outgrown all the BRF trivia.
Is this recent Diana slander due to publication of Dianarama? She was fighting against future King, ofcourse she would have team devoted. Everyone should read Dianarama once.
Media slandered her day in and day out during last years of her life. Even a newspaper came out with apology for “sex mad Diana” on the night she died.
Yip, she was known for it, she was really immature and her family used her for their own gain in aristocrat circles.
And? They were both in a mediatic war, let’s not shame diana for playing the same game the royal family played and still play.
Good for them.
lol they didn’t have to devote time to upstaging Charles. A Z list celebrity could do that
Let this woman rest in peace.
They both did. Same as they all compete today.
If that’s true, entirely fair, honestly. Who cares.
I wish the media would leave her alone, even in death she’s hounded.
Apparently in 1993 she thought that Northern Ireland was part of the *Republic* of Ireland as she told an Irish ambassador ‘I was in your country yesterday!’, which led to the ambassador saying she showed “obvious ignorance of, or disregard for, constitutional niceties”.
Not exactly breaking news. Their public pr battles, culminating in Charles Dimbleby interview where he admitted aduktery and trashed his parents followed by Diana’s infamous panorama interview, are what led the Queen to insist the divorce rather than go on with the official separation “but both will be crowned” situation which existed from 1992-1995. It’s also not news that Diana was more skilled at it. She threw the first grenade with the Morton book and there’s the iconic “up yours” black dress the night of the Dimbleby interview.
And she wouldn’t have been successful at upstaging him if she wasn’t LOADS more charming and personable than him.
It may be my Diana bias talking, but sorry not sorry.
The press was the only leverage she had. The public support via her use of the media is why she was able to walk away from that marriage and keep her sons in her life.

Probably didn’t take much to upstage him.
