  11. There is a vast gap between what huamn rights lawyers think they are and what they actually are, they seemingly spend most of their time defending rapists, murderers and terrorists than they do on anyone else.

  16. How much money does this all cost? Its ludicrous, a person can flee the country and join a terrorist organisation, not show any remorse, yet get the attention she has. I feel this has been going on forever, can the judges finally put this to bed. You make monumental fuck ups, this is the price.

  18. Fair play to them for querying a very strange decision by the Home office under Sajid Javid. This woman had her childhood in Britain, so has never sat right with me that we washed our hands of her. Should she not be tried and convicted in a British court of law?

  19. Do we live in a country with principles that abides by the rule of law? Do we want Britain to be that kind of country? If so then we should see the stripping of someone’s citizenship as an injustice.

    We don’t even have to consider her age or the allegations of grooming, they are irrelevant. A British citizen is a British responsibility regardless of their morals, actions or criminal record. 

    Once again the ECHR is checking to see if we’re practising the values we say we hold dear. It should be embarrassing to Britain that they have to hold us to account.

  29. I don’t think citizenship is something that should be allowed to be removed from a person. I understand this is a particularly emotive case, and regardless of the various opinions on her being groomed at 15 to go initially, I think when she left, she’d have only been further brainwashed.

    I don’t have a problem with her being imprisoned or institutionalised, particularly given that she obviously still holds some abhorrent views (such as the Manchester bombings being justified) but I don’t think a citizenship should be stripped.

    I don’t have a problem with it mutually being renounced, if for example someone gains citizenship elsewhere and renounces their UK citizenship, but there should never be a case of anyone being left stateless. I understand why some people want it in this case as it’s incredibly emotive, but I disagree with that view.

    Throw the book at her, sure. But a citizenship shouldn’t be something that can be removed for any reason, and particularly not just because someone has a potential claim to another citizenship. Citizenship removal should not be used as a punishment; that’s not real justice to me.

    Exactly what we should be doing with migrants that commit crimes here. (Sending them back and letting their home government deal with them)

  34. All the Shamima headlines (as far as I care she can rot in whatever camp she’s found herself in) and little mention of the fact 400 ISIS terrorists have already returned to live in the UK. That’s 400 people we are either paying for security services to monitor or (as I suspect is more likely) are free to plot terror attacks in this country.

  35. This woman willingly traveled across borders to joined WILLINGLY with ISIS, a known and proscribed terrorist organisation and brought two other supporters with her. Just because it didn’t work out the way she wanted it to doesn’t mean that she should have her citizenship back.

We don’t want her back.What will she provide for her society apart from be a drain on it.If she comes back she will be subject to MI5 surveillance around the clock,won’t be able to get a job since her notoriety and be stuck on benefits.She made her choice,remember she doesn’t regret or express any remorse for what she has done.Her lawyers are trying to spin this case as ‘grooming’ but she still holds those views no matter how much western clothing she puts on to try and fool the cameras.The Europeans can have her since they want to get involved

    EDIT: I take that back partially, they could always take her back and charge her with terrorism for ya know… joining ISIS. see what people have to say about that and how much grace she will be granted by a jury. (I’d guess not much)

    She should be brought back to UK, and immediately arrested and put before a court to be held accountable for any criminal actions.
