ARLINGTON, Texas — No. 2 Ohio State faces off against No. 10 Miami in a pivotal quarterfinal matchup of the College Football Playoff at the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday. The Buckeyes return to AT&T Stadium for the second straight season after besting Texas to reach the national title game one year ago. And once again, Ohio State enters the CFP coming off a loss — this time to No. 1 Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game. Â
Miami outlasted Texas A&M in the first round to win the program’s first playoff game and reach a major bowl for the first time since 2017. The Hurricanes leaned on their stacked defensive line and got a strong fourth-quarter effort from running back Mark Fletcher Jr. to post 11 wins for the first time since 2003.Â
The last time these two teams played in the postseason was the 2003 national championship game in the Fiesta Bowl where the Buckeyes won on a controversial fourth quarter call. Miami now has a chance to flip the script to close out the 2025 season.Â
