I’m conflicted between ‘proper authentic to be so confident you just wrap them in whatever’ vs ‘they are wrapped in a flipping malteser bag’

  1. (I’m not pointing at it, I was holding the bag back!)

  2. Tells me they’re pretty lax on hygiene and potential allergies

  3. I mean at that point I’d probably be forwarding the images to food standards agency. You aren’t asking a serious question are you?

  4. I think i just got put off ordering take out ever again

  5. I’ll eat almost anything, and I’m not particularly squeamish, but that it is disgusting.

If they’re willing to do that, then they’re also willing to take all sorts of shortcuts with your food.

implicitly distrust, and I would report that

  6. I’d go with ‘send it back’ or at least never use that place again. I don’t know whether that’s a large bag of maltesers or a bag that contained smaller packs, but either way it’s not new and not hygienic.

  7. I haven’t been big on having my food wrapped in garbage since the demise of newspaper in chippies.

  8. I would be reporting that back to environmental health, if that is what you do see, just imagine what you don’t see back at the restaurant

  9. Id have to dip my finger in the curry and rip a piece off the chapatti.

If it tastes good id just it. Ive unknowingly eaten at a few 1 star hygiene rated places in my time and im still here, im not too precious about it but thats just me.

It is a bit weird though i must admit. What are the reviews like?

  10. If they’d been given to me by a neighbour or family friend: awesome.

If I’d paid a professional outfit: fuck no.

  11. Possibly bought discounted food grade packaging, maybe has printing errors on it or something

  12. Oh hell no! We had an ”authentic” Chinese restaurant that was popular in town, well after their recent food inspection they failed it, because food wasn’t stored properly, rat droppings, flies, cockroaches everywhere. They have since closed down and have opened up under a new name (which in itself is a disgusting practice). I would avoid a restaurant like this at all costs. If they can’t properly pack your order, imagine what happens in the kitchen and how the food is stored there.

  13. The wrapping can be bought for cheap in big rolls when it’s misprinted, not ideal, but, will be clean.

  14. Nah I’d be asking for my money back and talking to food hygiene.

  15. How many Maltesers are they eating a day, to wrap every take away order like this is my question.

  16. They buy big rolls of misprinted wrapping paper – I’ve seen it. Doritos wrapping tend to be my takeaways ‘brand’.

  17. Gingerly pointing at a chapatti in a malteasers bag. You’re right to be pointing that finger! Questions need answering!

  18. My first thought was that’s absolutely awful and disgusting. Then after reading comments and looking again it doesn’t look like a cut open packet and probably has been bought as food grade misprinted packaging (looks like the writing is the wrong way up). Still a bit weird though and you would think they would know that many people might think it’s old dirty used wrappers which is clearly going to put them off their food.

  19. It’s more than likely clean enough to put some bread in, but it’s extremely off putting and unprofessional of a restaurant to do something like this

I would ask for a refund for sure

  20. It’s not a used maltesers bag.
They’ve used a big roll of plastic sheet which is maltesers branded and cut that to wrap the chapatis.
    I’d trust them

  21. Eh.. why not just wrap them in the plastic bag at this point? Why the Malteser bag as well? Someone’s having a laugh surely.

  22. Distrust, mostly due to cross contamination and with the handling of allergens

  23. A rubbish bag that somebody has been sticking their minging hand into previously? There’s not a chance in hell I’m eating that.

  24. Not a chance. No idea what happened to that food before it got wrapped around your food.
I once saw a place change a bin and swap the bin-bag out, then with their same hands make me a burger, i got my money back and walked, I should really get around to reporting them.

  25. At first glance I thought these were brought in from India when someone fly over

  26. That looks very authentic in the same way that many indian street food videos make me wanna hurl

  27. Why would you order chapati when naan is infinitely superior?

  28. To do such a thing in a professional?? Kitchen is completely appalling and ignorant to food safety/cross contamination and h&h.
Highly likely most dont hold the certificates.
For the sake of all you need to contact your local council regarding this as a surprise visit will reveal much.more disturbing practices im sure.

  29. Food safety -100
    Taste +1000

Just be sure you have no plans tomorrow and healthy stock of toilet paper.

  30. If this was opening week I am running a mile. If it’s been going since before I was born it’s probably sound.

  31. Man I’m glad to be Pakistani and have a mum who can make chapattis 😂

  32. Urgh here’s the thing, as someone whose culture revolves around fresh homemade chapattis, I can see why they have done this. When you wrap fresh chapatti in plastic, it keeps it softer whereas when you wrap in foil, it makes it soggy.

People typically use carrier bags so this is the first I’ve seen someone use multipack wrapping.

Now as a consumer, this is very jarring and off putting. This is a takeaway and not very unprofessional
