Forward Max Plante missed Team USA’s loss to Sweden Wednesday night due to an undisclosed injury and his status for the rest of the IIHF World Junior Championships remains uncertain.
Plante was hurt during the second period of Team USA’s 6-5 win over Slovakia on Monday and is now listed as day-to-day.
It’s not clear if the Hermantown native will return for the Stars and Stripes during the tournament. USA’s head coach Bob Motzko said Plante’s chances of playing against Finland in the quarterfinals on Friday are not looking great.
The puck drops for that game at 5 p.m. on Friday at Grand Casino Arena.
