  1. Claimed he was an asylum seeker from Syria, actually from Jordan. His asylum application has been thrown out.

  2. “The man, who is originally from Jordan, and now living in Ireland of no fixed abode, is currently serving a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence for a very similar sexual assault which he committed on a woman in her 40s in Dublin within days of the Waterford attack.”

I would hope his abode is pretty fixed at whatever prison he’s in.

  3. These random and violent sexual assaulting men and these random and violent out-of-control pitbulls are making the rest of us men and pitbulls look bad.

  4. Should serve 10 years and be banned from the EU permanently.

  5. Happy to see people actually convicted for their crimes

  6. Send the vermin back to the shit hole he crawled out of.

  7. The horrible thing about this is that he’ll be released and free to wander the Streets, claim his benefits, etc.

Should be immediately deported and banned from the EU for life.

We need an immigration detention center for these animals. It will keep happening unless they do something about it.

  8. This is getting tiring. When is Ireland going to get a grip with the influx of these people

  9. I might regret weighing in … but here goes.

So, I don’t agree that deportation is the answer. There is no punishment/justice/conviction in deporting someone. Surely, if the offence was committed in Ireland then the sentence should be served out in Ireland in accordance with Irish policies.

Otherwise, what, someone is found guilty of a serious offence, put on a plane, and they walk away? Deportation isn’t extradition, nor can a sentence passed down in one jurisdiction be transferred to another.

Consider it this way – it was not that country’s court that found them guilty, so why should a foreign court decide they should serve time in another country’s prison? The system that convicts someone of a crime then oversees their sentence, they can’t instruct another system to do it on their behalf, that’s not how these things work.

Besides, is it not the case that once the sentence is served, the individual would be deported anyway?

Anyway, all I’m trying to say is, if you think about it for 30 seconds, turning this into an immigration discussion is irrelevant. It’s not applicable in how convictions or sentences are handed down.

But then again, if we don’t turn everything into an immigration issue, how will the trolls ever get their rocks off? …

  10. Ah unfortunately that’s another woman traumatized and many more people feeling justified in their fear of foreign people coming in. Idk I personally am pretty numb to these articles and people going on about foreigners etc it’s normalized now. We are a way more individualistic society nowadays doubt anyone really cares much for the administration or policies of the country. It won’t really matter to the administrators unless they come under threat and call for public support like idk a coup or europe makes them call a draft for a war etc then they will realize nobody actually cares enough to go out of their way to defend the country and institutions and infact would backlash against them for trying to force them. All in all it’s a pretty solid death of Irish nationalism I guess
