Few pieces epitomise quintessential Norwegian fashion quite like a Dale of Norway knit. Founded in 1879, the company’s plush, warming wool ‘Lusekofta’ sweaters bearing traditional geometric patterns and nature-inspired motifs have become as synonymous with the country as brown cheese and fjords, appearing on top athletes and celebrities alike.
Soon, we’ll be able to swathe our interiors in Dale of Norway’s cosy spirit, too, as the brand launches its first-ever Home Collection, available to purchase this March.
“The idea grew naturally from our wish to bring the essence of Dale of Norway beyond the wardrobe and into the spaces where life unfolds,” explains Håkon Dyngeland Solem, creative director of Dale of Norway. “For nearly 150 years, we’ve been creating garments that offer warmth, comfort, and a deep sense of belonging. The Home Collection is a natural extension of that philosophy – expanding our Dale universe, bringing it even closer to our home.”
The debut range houses decorative pillow cases and blankets, all crafted from Dale of Norway’s signature, soft, locally sourced wool, enveloped in eye-catching patterns drawn from the brand’s popular clothing and archives. “We wanted to create pieces that evoke the same feeling as slipping into a beloved Dale sweater, a sense of calm, warmth, and timeless quality,” says Ingrid Brandseth, the designer of the collection. “It felt natural to extend these qualities into interior pieces like blankets and cushions – functional, yet deeply aesthetic.”
Rendered in earthy hues of whites, beiges, and blacks, the pieces spotlight two patterns: ‘Frogner’ and ‘Skarstind’. The former features a reinterpreted, modern take on one of Dale of Norway’s most classic, graphic winter-forward patterns, while the latter translates the striped, tactile motif from the brand’s same-named sweaters. “We drew inspiration from our surroundings – from Norwegian nature and architecture to the timeless motifs that have defined Dale through generations,” says Brandseth. “Each piece carries a subtle reference to our classic knitwear, reimagined through a new lens.”
Whether perched on a bed in a mountainside cabin or slung over a sofa in an inner-city apartment, the Home Collection has been designed to suit various spaces, infused with a distinctly Nordic charm. “We hope this collection evokes that unmistakable Dale feeling: the moment when cold meets warmth, and everything slows down,” Brandseth continues. “More than decoration, they are companions to the quiet moments like reading by the fire, resting after a day outdoors, or gathering with family. It’s an understated luxury grounded in heritage – the kind that never shouts but is always felt.”
Dale of Norway’s Home Collection will be available to shop from March 1st on daleofnorway.com and through selected retailers.
