  1. Love it when they put up the total figure to make it sound great. It’s a tenner a week, meanwhile everything else is going up by more then that so it’s of absolutely no benefit pardon the pun to anyone.

Would be far more useful to do something to bring down the price of everyday things or energy prices so people would actually see the rewards and have more disposable income in the long run

  2. As a taxpayer i am losing a extra 300 this year

    Yay

  3. Whatever about the young’ish looking Journalist on this piece (Jack White) surely someone like Pat Leahy could or should do better than this.
This is simply a government press release with zero analytical or critical journalism involved.

  4. Politicians expenses are more of a drain on taxpayers but vilify the unemployed, and make sure to vote for the politicians that give themselves raises often and fund horse and dog racing with 100 million of taxpayer money per year.

  5. 1.5M people on social welfare in a 5.3M country. It’s almost 1/3 of the total population, or 1 recipient every 3.5 other person

  6. It’s worth noting that about 80% of these payments are allocated to pensions, children’s allowance and sickness supports.

  7. Full employment. 30% of the population getting social welfare. 24 billion a year. Free money for those that chose not to work, paid for my the workers, whose children will be paying the debt. Yet the lefty losers moan.
