Prediction markets on the 2028 race for the White House are showing a major omen for Vice President JD Vance, Newsweek reports.

CNN polling analyst Harry Enten said that prediction markets show that Vance has a robust 48% chance of snagging the Republican Party nomination for president in 2028.

Enten pointed out that Vance’s nearest 2028 rival, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has just a 12% chance of being the GOP nominee for the White House.

Even more strongly for Vance, prediction markets show that no other candidate has even a 5% chance of winning the Republican presidential nod.

Vance is increasingly being seen as the heir to President Donald Trump. The influential Turning Point USA group, founded by Charlie Kirk, recently declared its support for Vance.

Enten also pointed out that a recent New Hampshire presidential primary poll showed Vance at 51% support. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley was a distant second in that survey, at 9%, while Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had 8%.

Newsweek reported that Vance is the first non-sitting president running for the GOP nomination to garner 50% or higher support in early New Hampshire polling since at least 1980.

A poll by Saint Anselm College Survey Center at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics in September showed Vance with 56% support in the Granite State.

“If you win the GOP primary in New Hampshire, chances are you’re going to be the Republican nominee for president,” Enten said.

“J.D. Vance is pulling off something historic at this time,” the analyst continued. “And that is the key reason why at this point he is the far and away favorite for the Republican nomination, he’s just way out ahead of the pack.”
