Canada will face Slovakia in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship on Friday, January 2.
The game is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the NHL Network. Canada closed out the preliminary round with a 7-4 win over Finland on Wednesday night, putting them atop Group B. The Slovaks finished their preliminary round with a 3-2 loss to Switzerland on Wednesday.
Canada and Slovakia have played in the quarters three times, most famously in 2023 when Connor Bedard scored a dazzling goal in overtime to give Canada a 4-3 win. Before that, Canada won two games easily, 7-2 in 1997 and 6-1 in 2020.
The winner will move on to the semi-finals on Sunday and the loser goes home.
