Mexico’s sweeping tariff hikes on Asian imports went into effect on Thursday, with Chinese products affected the most.
Thousands of goods, including cars, clothing, and home appliances, will face steep tariffs this year, many reaching 35 percent.
This comes as the United States is expected to renegotiate trade pacts with Mexico and Canada. The Trump administration has warned both countries not to transship cheap Chinese goods into the U.S. market.
