US Vice President JD Vance has so far been notably silent about the US attack on Venezuela and the capture of Nicolas Maduro – unlike other members of the government who are often described as his rivals, such as Marco Rubio.

However, earlier today, the US vice president came out to address criticism of the intervention, particularly in relation to drugs and oil, the Telegraph reports.

JD Vance addressed some criticism of US action in Venezuela, particularly regarding drugs and oil.

Former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene was among those who disputed the president’s claims that he was fighting drug trafficking in Venezuela, saying the fentanyl crisis in the US was largely tied to Mexico.

“Cocaine, which is the main drug trafficked from Venezuela, is also bad,” Vance said. /Telegraph
