For Qaisar and his family, it was an unexpected and unprovoked night of terror.
Brutally attacked for no reason by a gang of masked youths, he now wonders if his young family can ever again feel safe in their own home.
Qaisar had just returned from a night out with friends in Melbourne’s northern suburbs when he noticed a car at the front of his house with four young men inside.Â

“It was dark, my driveway light had come on, so I could barely see,” he said.
“I’m just telling my friend over the phone that, ‘oh, there is a car parked in the wrong direction’.
“I started walking towards the car and tried to see the shadows, and I saw two guys standing in balaclavas.”
The car appeared to take off and Qaisar tried to record the vehicle on his phone.Â
“I was so nervous, so scared, so afraid, that I couldn’t even turn my camera to video,” he said.
But it then returned and the masked men jumped out.
