ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell firefighters have responded to a natural gas leak near Holcomb Bridge Road and Holcomb Woods Parkway on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
Crews determined a 2-inch natural gas main had been impacted, causing the smell of natural gas in the area. As a precaution, Atlanta Academy School and nearby businesses were monitored while first responders assessed the situation.
Fire officials said no hazardous gas readings were detected and there is no immediate danger to the public.
Atlanta Gas Light crews are on scene completing repairs. Authorities said residents and drivers in the area may continue to notice the odor of natural gas while work is underway.
The city also sent an ALERTRoswell notification to keep the community informed. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the alert system to receive timely public safety update.
