WASHINGTON (TNND) — White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Vice President JD Vance are scheduled to brief the media on Thursday, which marks just one day after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a woman during a raid in Minneapolis.

White House to address media as deadly ICE shooting sparks nationwide debate

The woman was later identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Macklin Good.

“I stand with ICE,” Leavitt posted on X soon after the shooting.

Vance, who called the shooting a tragedy, also took to X to show his support for ICE.

“I want every ICE officer to know that their president, vice president, and the entire administration stands behind them,” Vance wrote.”To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we’re going to work even harder to enforce the law,” he added.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security described the incident as “an act of domestic terrorism.”

Multiple videos circulating on social media appear to show ICE officers approaching a woman’s SUV. The woman drives in the direction of the officers before she is fatally shot.

State and local officials called on immigration agents to leave the area, including Minnesota, including Gov. Tim Walz. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said federal agents should “get the f*** out” of the city.

“What they are doing is not to provide safety in America, what they are doing is causing chaos and distrust,” Frey said. “They’re ripping families apart. They’re sowing chaos on our streets, and in this case, quite literally killing people. So they are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense.”

Dozens of protesters gathered early Thursday outside of a federal building on the edge of Minneapolis that is serving as a major base for the immigration crackdown. They shouted “No More ICE,” “Go Home Nazis,” “Quit Your Job,” and “Justice Now!”

“We should be horrified,” protester Shanta Hejmadi said. “We should be saddened that our government is waging war on our citizens. We should get out and say no. What else can we do?”

President Donald Trump said he watched the video of the shooting, also noting that “the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”

“They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE,” he wrote on Truth Social. “We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”
