Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of NATO and cooperates with the Alliance and partner countries in the areas of security, defense reforms, cyber defense, and counterterrorism. This was stated by the Head of the NATO Office in the South Caucasus, Alexander Vinnikov, in an interview with APA.

According to him, one of the key areas of the partnership is strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and improving their interoperability with NATO. He recalled that Azerbaijan’s participation in the Partnership for Peace program since 1994 has made it possible to develop military units in line with NATO standards and prepare them for peacekeeping missions.

Vinnikov highlighted Azerbaijan’s contribution to NATO operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan, as well as Baku’s interest in cooperation in the fields of demining and the protection of critical energy infrastructure.
