34-year-old Dzmitry Viarbicki became a hero of the Dutch media.

This happened in the city of Eindhoven. Dzmitry Viarbicki initially heard just a pop. He says, «like plastic falling on ice».

He turned his head and saw: from the slippery, snowy street, a car had driven into a canal. Dzmitry saw that a female driver remained in the car, which was sinking. Without thinking for a minute, Dzmitry jumped into the icy water and pulled the woman out of the car.

The footage is epic: the car is floating, and its wipers continue to work.

The bearded, smiling Dzmitry is a political refugee from Belarus. He lives in a migrant center; the police who arrived at the scene took him there. The car was pulled out of the water with the help of special transport.

The Dutch spare no words of admiration for Dzmitry. And they quote his words: «And now I want one thing: a shower and hot tea.»
