ndonesia and Turkey have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including the economy, defense and multilateral coordination, say the defense and foreign ministers of both countries.

Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Foreign Minister Sugiono held a 2+2 meeting with their Turkish counterparts Yaşar Güler and Hakan Fidan, respectively, in Ankara on Friday. During the meeting, the ministers discussed bilateral relations and measures to strengthen them, as well as regional and global strategic issues.

Sjafrie described Turkey as a strategic partner in Indonesia’s efforts to enhance national defense, highlighting collaboration in defense industry development, military training and technology exchange as key areas of focus.

He also emphasized the importance of synergy between diplomacy and defense as a core element in maintaining regional and global stability.

“Indoensia-Turkey defense cooperation is aimed at improving interoperability, operational readiness and the two countries’ contributions to international peacekeeping missions and humanitarian efforts,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The ministers also shared views on several international issues, including support for the Palestinian cause, strengthening the role of developing countries through multilateral forums and the importance of dialogue and cooperation as bases for resolving global conflicts.

In a separate statement, Foreign Minister Sugiono asserted the 2+2 meeting served as a crucial platform to strengthen coordination within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
