The President of Belarus stated that today’s gathering honours traditions born in sovereign Belarus, “Celebrating Old New Year is one of them, and the reception to elegantly end the series of winter holidays is the other. It’s a pleasure for me.”

“I’m I am glad to see you, first and foremost, in your presence, I’d like to thank

all your colleagues, employees, subordinates, relatives and loved ones for the past year. Objectively speaking, this includes media representatives in the first place. I’d like to particularly thank journalists, experts and analysts. You are always there, both literally and figuratively. Without exaggeration, you defend

the country’s interests at the information frontline alongside our military. Although now, you are ahead — even ahead of our military,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the attendees.

“You, like no one else, know that the agenda is overloaded with a huge number of interpretations, not always appropriate, and often false. And you have to go out there, to the people, and tell them the truth. The truth, which, unfortunately, is not as interesting as fiction, not as catchy as fakes, deep fakes and so on. But you do it. You work honestly and professionally, skilfully rebutting false information meant to disrupt our lives. People trust you, and that is the highest praise for your work,” the President emphasised.
