U.S. stocks traded mixed midway through trading, with the Dow Jones index falling more than 200 points on Tuesday.
The Dow traded down 0.60% to 49,293.33 while the NASDAQ gained 0.17% to 23,773.29. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.08% to 6,971.95.

Top Headline
Inflation held steady in December, with fresh data showing price pressures remained firm above the Fed’s 2% target but failed to accelerate into year-end.
The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7% year over year in December, according to data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The reading matched economist expectations and was unchanged from November. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3%, also in line with forecasts.

Beyond Air Inc (NASDAQ:XAIR) shares shot up 172% to $2.39 after XTL Biopharmaceuticals agreed to acquire an 85% stake in its NeuroNOS subsidiary with Beyond Air set to receive up to $32.5 million in upfront, development and commercial milestone payments.
Shares of Ambitions Enterprise Management Co LLC (NASDAQ:AHMA) got a boost, surging 106% to $10.90 after the company reported a year-over-year increase in H1 EPS results.
TryHard Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:THH) shares were also up, gaining 77% to $40.96 after the company announced it has entered into a binding collaboration agreement with Carnegie Hill Capital Partners to establish a Hong Kong-based investment fund. Also, the company announced a $10 million share repurchase program.
Equities Trading DOWN
Signing Day Sports Inc (NYSE:SGN) shares dropped 57% to $0.25 after the company announced the pricing of $5.6 million public offering.
Shares of Travere Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:TVTX) were down 32% to $23.16. The company announced preliminary fourth-quarter financial results.
Wealthfront Corp (NASDAQ:WLTH) was down, falling 18% to $10.34 following weak quarterly sales.
Commodities
In commodity news, oil traded up 2.6% to $61.06 while gold traded up 0.1% at $4,620.80.
Silver traded up 4.4% to $88.860 on Tuesday, while copper fell 0.1% to $6.0295.
Euro zone
European shares were mixed today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 fell 0.08%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.08%. London’s FTSE 100 slipped 0.03%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.06% and France’s CAC 40 fell 0.14% during the session.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mixed on Tuesday, with Japan’s Nikkei surging 3.10%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gaining 0.90%, China’s Shanghai Composite falling 0.64% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.30%.
Economics
The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index surged to 99.5 in December, recording its highest level since August.
The annual inflation rate remained at 2.7% in December, the same as in the previous month.
The RealClearMarkets/TIPP Economic Optimism Index declined to 47.2 in January from 47.9 in the previous month.
Sales of new single-family homes fell by 0.1% from the previous month to an annualized rate of 737,000 units in October.
U.S. building permits fell 0.3% in October 2025 to an annualized rate of 1.411 million.
