US weekly LNG exports down to 33 cargoes

  • 2026-01-16

EIA said in its weekly report, citing shipping data provided by Bloomberg Finance, that the total capacity of these 33 LNG vessels is 127 Bcf.

This compares to 38 LNG vessels and 143 Bcf in the week ending January 7.

Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant shipped eight LNG cargoes, and the company’s Corpus Christi facility sent five shipments during the week ending January 14, according to the report.

This compares with 11 and six shipments, respectively, in the previous week.

Moreover, Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines terminal sent seven shipments, while the Freeport LNG terminal and Sempra Infrastructure’s Cameron LNG terminal each shipped five cargoes during the week ending January 14.

Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass facility shipped two cargoes, and the Cove Point facility sent one cargo during the week under review.

There were no shipments from the Elba Island LNG facility.

Henry Hub slightly up

EIA reported that the Henry Hub spot price rose 1 cent from $3.11 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) last Wednesday to $3.12/MMBtu this Wednesday.

According to the agency, the price of the February 2026 NYMEX contract decreased 41 cents, from $3.525/MMBtu last Wednesday to $3.120/MMBtu this Wednesday.

EIA noted that price marks the lowest value for the February 2026 contract since mid-2020.

The price of the 12-month strip averaging February 2026 through January 2027 futures contracts also declined, down 21 cents to $3.324/MMBtu, it said.

TTF averaged $10.22/MMBtu

The agency said that international natural gas futures were mixed this report week.

Bloomberg Finance reported that average front-month futures prices for LNG cargoes in East Asia decreased 2 cents to a weekly average of $9.59/MMBtu

Natural gas futures for delivery at the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) in the Netherlands increased 50 cents to a weekly average of $10.22/MMBtu.

In the same week last year (week ending January 15, 2025), the prices were $14.15/MMBtu in East Asia and $14.00/MMBtu at TTF.

Higher prices at TTF reflect colder temperatures in Europe and decreasing natural gas storage inventories, EIA said.
