Washington | United States President Donald Trump will hit eight European allies with a 10 per cent tariff for opposing his administration’s bid to purchase Greenland, in an aggressive escalation of his trade war and foreign interventions.
Opening up a fortnight of frantic negotiations, Trump said the additional levy would begin on February 1, and rise to 25 per cent after four months if the United States has not reached a deal “for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland,” according to the president’s social media post on Saturday (Sunday AEST).
