Saliou Thioune is set to continue his career in Belarus as the young striker has agreed to join Maxline Vitebsk.
The Belarus champions have been very keen to sign the young forward who impressed for the Spartans in the first part of the season, and after talks with the Spartans, they have agreed a fee with the Maltese club to secure the services of the 21-year-old forward.
Thioune joined the Spartans at the start of the season and he turned out to be one of the top signings completed by the Malta champions, particularly with his performances in the team’s qualifying journey for an historic qualification to the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League.
Thioune had played a crucial role to help the Spartans secure qualification to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after scoring a crucial opener in a 2-0 win over Lithuanian side FK Zalgiris in the second leg of the first qualifying round.
The Senegal forward was then a major protagonist to help Ħamrun Spartans reach the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League after scoring in both legs against Latvian side RFS in the Play Off Round.
Thioune grabbed the winner in the 1-0 win over RFS in the first leg at the National Stadium before going on to score again in the return leg in Latvia that finished in a 2-2 draw.
Thioune made 26 appearances for the Spartans, scoring five goals.
