Belarusian world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka says she wants to keep politics out of her tennis and that she wants peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, answering a call at the Australian Open for players from countries that support Vladimir Putin to be banned from the global tour.
Ukrainian player Oleksandra Oliynykova this week denounced the inclusion of Russian and Belarusian players at international tennis tournaments and criticised Sabalenka for what she said was her past support of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, a close Putin ally.
