“I have always encouraged you to make sure that, God forbid, no unnecessary funds are spent from the budget. Although we never had such cases. But I understand that, as Dmitry Nikolaevich [Head of the President Administration Dmitry Krutoi] says, you are a strong and determined person. A restless individual in a positive sense, willing to travel across the country, neighbouring states and beyond. I thought: why not have someone like you working in Russia, where it is important to visit the regions and keep key areas of our activities within the Russian Federation under control, especially in trade. You are fully aware of these issues and understand the main challenges we face in Belarus-Russia relations. I concluded that among all the candidates proposed, considering what I have said, you are probably the best suited to work in Russia,” the Head of State explained.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that the Belarusian Embassy in Russia is more than just a typical embassy, “It functions like a second government because Russia is our main market for selling products. It is also the leading investor in our country and consistently supports us. This is our Russia, so we cannot appoint just anyone there. The person must have the right qualifications, knowledge and willingness to work. That is why we selected you for this role.”

Speaking to the new Ambassador, the President added, “You have always participated in meetings, even at the highest levels, and have understood the challenges we face and may need to address. Given your adaptability, you are exactly the person I need.”
