2. 11 new and coming soon Georgetown-area businesses
Georgetown’s dining scene continued to grow with the addition of restaurants Sorn Thai Kitchen by Seeda and Bahler Street in recent months. The area also gained a new animal hospital and beauty supply store as well as dental, massage and haircut providers.

3. Austin ISD to retake Mendez Middle School following charter school partnership
Austin ISD will regain ownership of Mendez Middle School in South Austin next school year.
Charter school and nonprofit partners have operated the AISD campus for more than a decade to help improve low academic performance. On Jan. 16, the district announced it will retake the school this fall after the campus earned a B accountability rating in 2025.

4. Construction of Round Rock ISD’s $31M Early College High School complete
Funded by a combination of 2018 and 2024 bonds, the campus will provide a central building for the district’s Early College High School. Prior to its construction, students attended class in portables on the Austin Community College’s Round Rock campus.

6. Monkey Sports coming soon to The Crossover in 2026
Monkey Sports is bringing sports gear, apparel, shoes and accessories to The Crossover in Cedar Park later this year. The new sporting goods shop plans to open its doors to customers in late spring or early summer, said marketing manager Tony Yourell.
