The Executive Board of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has made a decision allowing athletes from Belarus and Russia to participate in junior and youth tournaments without additional checks and using state symbols. This was reported by the organization’s press service.

This decision will already be in effect at the upcoming World Championships. The junior tournament will take place from May 2 to 8 in Ismailia (Egypt), and the youth competitions will be held from July 5 to 11 in Cali (Colombia).
On January 22, it also became known that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is considering the possibility of U18 youth teams from Belarus and Russia returning to international competitions in the 2027/28 season.
In December 2025, the International Olympic Committee proposed easing restrictions for Belarusian and Russian athletes in the international arena.
