As we’ve been reporting, Storm Chandra is the third named storm this month, and it comes hot on the heels of Storm Ingrid, which at the weekend, caused widespread damage and disruption.
We are starting to feel the full force of Storm Chandra, named by the Met Office on Monday morning.
It’s pouring rain in many areas and will reach the north of Scotland through the day.
In south-west England, there’s an amber rain warning in force until 09:00 GMT. As a reminder, an amber warning can mean a danger to life, and Dartmoor has already seen in excess of 100mm of rain in the past 24 hours.

You can see from the rainfall league that up to Sunday, prior to Chandra, that some parts of the south west have already had one and a half times their average January rainfall with parts of eastern and northern Scotland receiving two and a half times.
The ground right across the UK is pretty saturated and the number of flood warnings have been increasing through the night and will likely continue to through the day.
So with rivers swollen, the flood risk remains high and there is now a severe flood warning in force, which means a danger to life.
Theses warnings will be changing as the rain continues and filters into the river system, and downstream, so best keep up to date on river flood warnings here.
