THIS WENT ON FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS IN GRADY COUNTY. BUT NOW THE PEOPLE WHO HAD TO EVACUATE ARE ABLE TO GO BACK HOME. THIS IS JUST OUTSIDE BLANCHARD. POWER LINES WERE SHUT OFF AROUND THE AREA TO PREVENT SOMETHING WORSE FROM HAPPENING. WE BASICALLY JUST PACKED UP EVERYTHING WE POSSIBLY COULD FOR THE KIDS AND JUST RAN OUT THE DOOR AND THEN GOT A HOTEL AND STAYED IN THE CITY. POWER IS NOW BEING RESTORED TO THE GRADY COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER SAY

An oil well blowout in Grady County that released natural gas into the air for more than 24 hours has been successfully capped, allowing evacuated residents to return home.

The incident occurred outside Blanchard, where power lines were shut off to prevent further hazards.
