Saturday, January 31st marks the return of ‘Supernova’, Latvia’s all-singin’, sometimes dancin’ Eurovision selection show.

Fans of Eurovision will definitely want to turn on LTV1 at 21:10 for the first Supernova semi-final and can enjoy nearly two hours of acts trying to book a place in the final.

The jury has selected 24 participants from 124 applications to participate in the semi-finals of Supernova. The semi-finalists were announced on November 20th, as previously reported, and all of the songs have been available to listen to for weeks.

Now it’s down to the live performances in the semi-finals on January 31st and February 7th.

In each semi-final, 12 participants will compete for a place in the final, where the top 10 will participate. The winner of the competition will be determined by a combination of jury verdicts and the audience vote via phone and social media. 

The final will take place on February 14th to ultimately decide who will be yodelling for Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria in May.
