BBS Japan, a leading manufacturer of forged performance wheels, has announced a new technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari HP, underlining Ferrari’s continued investment in specialist engineering suppliers as the team prepares for the upcoming regulatory cycle in Formula One.
Under the agreement, BBS Japan has become the exclusive supplier of forged magnesium racing wheels to Scuderia Ferrari HP’s Formula 1 programme from the 2026 season.
The partnership represents a renewed chapter in a long-standing technical relationship between the two organisations that dates back to 1992, when BBS first developed forged magnesium wheels for Ferrari, marking a significant milestone in F1 wheel technology.
The collaboration will centre on the design, engineering and manufacture of ultra-lightweight, high-strength racing wheels tailored to the demands of modern F1 competition. Key areas of focus include structural stiffness, thermal resistance and manufacturing precision, all of which play a critical role in managing braking loads, heat dissipation and tyre performance across race distances.
Ferrari will integrate BBS Japan’s wheel technology into its Formula 1 operations, working closely with the manufacturer to ensure seamless compatibility with the team’s suspension, braking and tyre systems. The partnership reflects Ferrari’s broader technical strategy of pursuing performance gains through deep collaboration with highly specialised suppliers, rather than off-the-shelf solutions.
