Uzbekistan Takes New Step Toward Global Economy With OECD

Uzbekistan has taken a significant step toward deeper integration into the global economy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) during the OECD Eurasia Week.

The agreement opens a new chapter in cooperation and covers 19 priority areas, including improving the investment climate, advancing digitalization, combating corruption, and developing green energy, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

As part of the partnership, Uzbek businesses will gain access to OECD analytical materials and best international practices, assisting to boost corporate competitiveness and strengthen investor confidence.

Uzbekistan has also submitted an application to join the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises, which is supported by more than 50 countries. This move is expected to enhance the country’s standing in global rankings and provide additional safeguards for foreign investors.

Cooperation with the OECD will further support reforms in education and healthcare, promote job creation, expand renewable energy development, and strengthen social protection mechanisms.

On the sidelines of the forum, meetings were held with representatives of participating countries, who confirmed their interest in joining a business mission to Uzbekistan and taking part in the Tashkent International Investment Forum, scheduled for June 16-19, 2026.
