WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump is set to present the Medal of Honor to three U.S. Army soldiers during a White House ceremony Monday morning.
The three U.S. Army Soldiers being honored with the medal are Master Sergeant Roderick (Roddie) W. Edmonds, U.S. Army (posthumous), Staff Sergeant Michael H. Ollis, U.S. Army (posthumous), and Command Sergeant Major Terry P. Richardson, U.S. Army (Retired).
The awards come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East. Over the weekend, U.S. and Israeli forces carried out strikes targeting Iran, drawing renewed attention to American military involvement abroad.
In a video message posted online, Trump urged leadership changes in Tehran and cautioned that U.S. casualties could occur as the situation develops.
Monday’s ceremony follows last week’s State of the Union address, where the president also bestowed two Medals of Honor.
