According to DELFI, citing Ukrinform, the Latvian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Transport are developing a draft government decree that will provide for using the national carrier airBaltic to operate flights from the UAE.
In the consular register, 676 short-term trips to the region have been recorded, of which 576 people are specifically in the UAE.
Latvian diplomats note that airspace over the Middle East, with the exception of Oman, remains closed, and air alerts are regularly announced.
Repatriation Plans and the State of Airspace
It is also noted that other European Union countries are considering ways to assist their citizens in leaving the region, prioritizing those who need health-related support.
The region remains tense: military actions are taking place between Israel, the United States and Iran, affecting safety and air movement logistics in certain directions.
