Germany defeated Norway 4-0 on Saturday to continue a perfect start to their qualifying campaign for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

A rotated lineup in attack saw Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nicole Anyomi leading the line, Bayer Leverkusen’s Carlotta Wamser at right wing, and Lyon’s Jule Brand in attacking midfield. The result? Another convincing and high-scoring victory.

In the sixth minute Anyomi found space in behind and laid it on for an on-rushing Vivien Endemann, but the Wolfsburg forward — who had missed a number of opportunities to add to her tally against Slovenia — struck the post on what should have been the opening goal.

Instead the breakthrough came in the 18th minute. Bayern Munich’s Franziska Kett finished off a charging carry into the box with the perfect cutback into space, and Elisa Senß latched on with a ferocious strike from range.

Just before the break, Wamser doubled Germany’s advantage with a sharp first-time finish right in front of the keeper after a slicing ball from Endemann. It looked to be a potentially decisive blow; Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger had denied a rare Norway chance to equalize not long prior.

But one stoppage time goal would prove to not be enough! There was time enough for Germany to strike yet again, with Anyomi and Endemann making good this time on their connection. This time the Wolfsburg supplied a sublime finish into the roof of the net. From there, Norway’s prospects went from grim to nearly impossible; from nearly entering the break within striking distance and having shown the ability to conjure an equalizer to staring up from the bottom of a 3-0 hole.

The fourth and final German goal was just as top class. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger unleashed a fast break and Endemann, driving into central space, found multiple runners to thread a pass through to. Her ball from the center circle reached Jule Brand, who took just one touch to arrive at the top of the box. With her next two quick touches she set up a calm finish through the legs of the keeper from just beyond the penalty spot.

Two matches, two wins, six points, nine goals and zero conceded. It’s been a marvelous start to World Cup Qualifying for Christian Wück’s side, who flashed different looks and personnel in the two games. Wolfsburg’s Endemann stands out however as the breakout player, turning in two highly reliable and productive 90s on the left wing in relief of the injured Klara Bühl — a combined two goals and three assists.

Qualifying resumes in April with two matches against Austria: a home leg on April 14th and an away visit on the 18th.
