History

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The RIT baseball team defeated Ithaca, 13-3, in a Liberty League contest at the RIT Baseball Complex, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED


The visiting Bombers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but RIT first-year starter Sly Cash kept Ithaca off the board the rest of his four innings.
The Tigers grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third when graduate student Hayes Waddell launched a three-run home run to right-center field to make it 3-1.
RIT added three more runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from senior Jarin Moses and a two-run single off the bat of senior Roberto Reade.
Ithaca cut into the deficit with a two-run sixth inning, but RIT answered in the bottom half when Moses connected on a two-run home run to restore the five-run advantage.
The Tigers continued to build its lead with two runs in the seventh inning, setting the stage for the walk-off finish.
With two runners on in the bottom of the eighth inning, Rusiecki lined a two-RBI double to right-center field, ending the game via the 10-run mercy rule.

 
GAME NOTES


Rusiecki went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, including the walk-off hit.
Moses finished 3-for-4 with a double, home run, and three RBIs.
Waddell drove in three runs with his third-inning home run.
RIT totaled 13 hits, including three home runs and four doubles, and drew nine walks.
Graduate student Dylan Joseph earned the win in relief, allowing two runs over four innings while striking out three.
RIT improved to 10-10 overall and 4-3 in Liberty League play.

 RIT continues its series against the Bombers tomorrow (Apr. 4), with a doubleheader at Falcon Park in Auburn. First pitch of game one is scheduled for noon.
