Two weather alerts have been issued for southern Ontario on Thursday.

Up to 20 millimetres of rain is possible in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Region, Hamilton, Durham Region, across southwestern Ontario, cottage country and southeastern Ontario, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The ground, already near saturation, has a limited capacity to absorb this rainfall, the alert stated.

A few more rounds of showers and embedded thunderstorms are possible through the day.

Portions of the region have received significant rainfall amounts over the last few days. As a result, any further rainfall could have significant impacts. Rainfall warnings may be issued for some regions.

Rainfall amounts will likely be highly variable across the region.

Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Avoid low-lying areas.

The second advisory is for dense fog with near-zero visibility this morning. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times.

The fog is expected to dissipate by late morning.

It will be warm with a high of around 20 C expected in the GTA.
