WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Coleman Elementary Students traded in the classroom to learn about environmental science on Friday as part of their Biodiversity Day.
Students learned about everything from wildfires to falcons to bug populations. Organizations from around Wichita came to the event to show the importance of biodiversity and how to appreciate the natural world.
“All the community partners that come in from all over Wichita come in and volunteer and teach different things about different elements of environmental science,” said Jesse Milne, one of the instructional facilitators at Coleman. “And the kids spend the whole day rotating throughout different classes, doing fun activities and stuff as it relates to environmental science.”
Biodiversity Day has become a yearly tradition for the school to help students engage with the community and deepen their love for nature.
