The exhibition entitled “Created in War, Preserved through Art”
will open on May 5 at the National Museum of Military History. It is dedicated
to the Day of Bravery and the
Bulgarian Armed Forces and the 110th anniversary of the museum’s founding. The exhibition takes visitors back to 1916, a period
during World War I when, amid the hardships of war, the institution dedicated
to preserving the memory of the Bulgarian Army was founded.

“That
same year, Bulgarian artists participated in an international exhibition in Berlin, representing
the country with works inspired by events at the front. After their return to Bulgaria, a significant
number of their works were acquired by the Ministry of War, laying the
foundations of one of the most significant art collections in the country—the
collection of the National Museum of Military History”, the
museum recalled in a media statement.

On May 6, the museum
will offer free admission to the permanent exhibition and a festive programme.
Visitors will be able to explore the exhibits, enter the cockpits of Mi-8 and
Mi-2 helicopters and the 2K52 FROG “Luna-M” missile complex, sample traditional
soldiers’ cuisine, and enjoy a concert by the Land Forces Brass Band.
