A hotel briefly used to house asylum seekers is getting ready to reopen to the general public.
Room reservations at the North Stafford Hotel were suspended in November 2022.
A number of weddings booked at the venue were also cancelled, leaving couples’ plans in tatters.

The hotel, located opposite Stoke-on-Trent railway station, stopped operating as an asylum seeker hotel in January 2024.
Britannia Hotels still operates the venue, which has since had a ‘full refurbishment’, StokeonTrentLive reports.
A post on the North Stafford Hotel’s Facebook page read: “The countdown has officially begun.
“We are excited to announce that the grand opening of North Stafford Hotel is just around the corner following a full refurbishment.
“The transformation of North Stafford Hotel is truly something special.
“Get ready to experience a fresh new look, enhanced comfort, and a welcoming atmosphere like never before.
“Whether you’re staying with us or just visiting, we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.”
The news received a mixed reaction in the comments section.
Hayley said: “We had our wedding reception in that room 3rd of May 2008, it would be nice to visit again.”
Michelle chipped in with: “So lovely to see this.”
Christine wrote: “Brilliant to see this hotel restored and ready for use again.”
However Jackie said: “Now you want people come back after cancellations of weddings and parties.”
Trevor added: “Wouldn’t spend a penny in there.”
