The Spanish royal family has released a video of Princess Leonor flying an aircraft with an instructor as part of her training.
According to a statement issued by the royal family, Leonor, known as the Princess of Asturias, “flew, on April 22, in an F-5 reactor aircraft at Talavera la Real Air Base (Badajoz), together with an instructor from Wing 23, to get to know first-hand the training and preparation of fifth-year students. This fighter jet is used for teaching the Hunt and Attack course.”
The video and statement were issued after the royal visited the 14th Wing of the Air and Space Army at Los Llanos Air Base (Albacete), together with her fourth-year classmates, on Monday, May 5, 2026.
The statement added that the visitors witnessed the operation of the Eurofighter (C.16), whose mission is to ensure the safety of Spanish airspace and Atlantic Alliance operations.
Leonor, Princess of Asturias, is the first in line to the Spanish throne as the elder daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
She is undergoing intensive pilot training as part of her three-year military education.
