President Donald Trump is expected to visit Greece the US ambassador to Athens Kimberly Guilfoyle said Tuesday.
The US envoy made the comments during a visit at state ERT broadcaster headquarters. Asked whether Trump’s visit could take place in the summer, she said: “Well, I can’t give you the exact date – a lot of things are happening – but he is going to come to Greece, and so is Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.”
Athens has maintained good relations with Washington for years, and these have continued under the Trump administration – which has not been the case with all of Greece’s European Union partners.
Guilfoyle has also said in the past that she hopes Trump would visit the Greek capital.
“Well of course we would all love that, wouldn’t we? Have [Trump] give a speech at the Acropolis. I hope he will come, I’ll ask him to come,” she said.
