The Electoral Commission will receive nominations for candidates contesting the upcoming general election from Thursday, 7 May until Monday, 11 May, both online and in person, the Commission said in a statement.

The Electoral Commissioners reminded candidates that they will receive online nominations through the website www.electoral.gov.mt for the forthcoming general election.

 Online applications may be submitted from 9am on Thursday, till 7pm (Malta time) on Monday.

Step-by-step guidelines are available on the website. Candidates who opt not to settle their €90 deposit online must do so in person by not later than 7pm on 11 May.

The Electoral Commissioners also notified that they will be in attendance to receive nominations at their Office in the Counting Hall Complex at Naxxar, on Thursday 7 May, Friday 8, Saturday 9, Sunday 10 and Monday 11 May from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm.

Prospective candidates are advised to present their identity card, and the top section of the nomination form should reflect the candidate’s details as shown in the electoral register published on 1 May 2026.

In the event of illness or while abroad, the nomination form must be submitted by a representative of the candidate.

The representative must supply a specific power of attorney authenticated by a notary public or a Commissioner of Oaths, and a deposit of €90 is applicable, the Commission said.

Application forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission as of Tuesday and during nomination days.

Forms may also be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website at https://electoral.gov.mt/nominations.

Candidates should note that taking photos or videos during nomination submission is restricted.

Objections to nominations shall be received at the same office during the days and hours established for nominations, as well as on Tuesday, 12 May, during the same hours, the statement said.
