Almost $40,000 has already been traded on an online prediction market asking who will become Malta’s next Prime Minister, with traders strongly backing Robert Abela to remain in power.
The market, hosted on Polymarket, currently gives Abela an estimated 87% chance of winning the election, while Opposition Leader Alex Borg sits at around 14%.
Prediction markets allow users to trade shares based on political outcomes, with prices reflecting what participants believe is most likely to happen.
The total trading volume has already surpassed $38,000 just days after Malta’s snap election was announced for 30th May 2026.
