Trump said it was an ‘honor like few I’ve ever seen before’ and said he was particularly impressed by the children.  “The children were amazing.”

“You’re a great leader,” Trump told Xi. “It’s an honor to be your friend.”

“We’re going to have a fantastic future together.”

“There are some who say it’s going to be the biggest summit ever.”

BEIJING, CHINA- President Trump arrived in China for a meeting that will take place with the Chinese president.

With China being one of the United States most important trade partners, our region, Washington, Idaho and Montana has an economic stake in what happens with the relationship and meeting.

The conversation regarding oil, tariffs and airplanes is set to take center stage.

The C.E.O. of Boeing Kelly Ortberg is joining the president for this trip and it’s believed sizable deal, for the Washington based aerospace company, that has plants in Moses Lake and Helena could be made.

Boeing and China are in conversations about around 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777x widebody jetliners.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the President is expected to potentially make that announcement of the deal on the trip.

Another major focus of the  trip, agriculture, just last week Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) and Washington Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) went to Beijing ahead of this trip for conversations regarding pulse crops, potatoes, apples and the Boeing deal, laying the groundwork for this trip— a head of the president’s arrival

“The U.S.-China relationship is the most consequential in the world, constituting 40 percent of the world’s GDP. Montana businesses, especially our farmers and ranchers, deserve a level playing field and expanded market access, and I look forward to President Trump’s meetings with the President of China,” Senator Daines said.

“I hope the President is able to get the trade relationship between the two biggest economies on the planet back on a productive track, because Washingtonians want opportunities to export more planes, agriculture products, and other goods to eager Chinese customers,” Senator Cantwell said.
