Customers impacted by the 2024 Fidelity Investments data breach could soon receive compensation as part of a multi-million-dollar class action settlement. The financial giant has agreed to resolve claims tied to the cyberattack, though the company has not admitted any wrongdoing.

Fidelity data breach settlement
The case has drawn major attention after reports claimed sensitive information belonging to thousands of customers was exposed during the breach, as per a report by The New York Post.

The class action settlement centers around allegations that Fidelity Investments failed to properly protect customer data before a cyberattack in August 2024. According to reports, the breach exposed sensitive financial details belonging to roughly 77,000 people.

Eligible customers were reportedly notified by Fidelity that their account and routing numbers may have been compromised between Aug. 17 and 19, 2024.

Who qualifies for the Fidelity settlement?
People impacted by the breach may qualify for compensation if they received a notice from Fidelity regarding the incident. Customers who experienced financial harm connected to the breach could receive reimbursements of up to $5,000.

The settlement covers losses linked to fraud, identity theft, professional fees, and credit-related expenses. Claimants must provide documentation such as bills, receipts, or other records showing the losses.

Fidelity Investments has not admitted fault in the case but agreed to the settlement terms.

How much money could customers receive?

Beyond larger documented claims, people included in the settlement may also receive a smaller cash payment estimated at around $100, depending on how many valid claims are filed.

California residents could qualify for an additional $50 Consumer Privacy Act payment under the agreement.

Customers are also eligible for two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring services. The package reportedly includes up to $1 million in fraud and identity theft insurance coverage, as per a report by The New York Post.
