NTT DATA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire WinWire, a Microsoft-focused cloud and AI consultancy, as the global IT services giant accelerates its expansion in enterprise artificial intelligence, agentic AI systems, and Azure-based transformation services.

The acquisition strengthens NTT DATA’s position within the rapidly intensifying market for enterprise AI implementation, where major corporations are increasingly seeking partners capable of moving AI initiatives from experimental pilots into production-scale operational systems.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

WinWire, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, specializes in agentic AI, Azure AI services, cloud-native development, and enterprise data engineering. The company is a longtime Microsoft partner and six-time Microsoft Partner of the Year winner with delivery operations in India and expertise across Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry environments.

Once completed, the deal will add more than 1,000 Azure engineers and Microsoft specialists to NTT DATA’s global Microsoft practice, significantly expanding its technical workforce dedicated to AI-driven cloud modernization and enterprise transformation.

NTT DATA CEO and Chief AI Officer Abhijit Dubey described the acquisition as a major step in scaling the company’s enterprise AI strategy.

“The acquisition of WinWire is a decisive step in advancing our enterprise AI strategy and expanding our leadership in Microsoft Azure and AI-powered cloud transformation,” Dubey said.

The deal comes amid accelerating global spending on enterprise AI infrastructure and services. Organizations across industries are investing heavily in AI-enabled automation, workflow orchestration, data modernization, and intelligent software systems as generative AI adoption moves deeper into operational business environments.

NTT DATA cited industry projections estimating that the global AI market could grow from roughly $390 billion today to nearly $3.5 trillion over the next decade.

A central focus of the acquisition is WinWire’s expertise in “agentic AI” — systems designed to operate autonomously within enterprise workflows by coordinating decision-making, actions, and business logic with minimal human intervention.

WinWire developed frameworks including its “Agentic AI @ Scale” platform, intended to help enterprises deploy autonomous AI systems securely across large operational environments.

The transaction also deepens NTT DATA’s strategic relationship with Microsoft at a time when Microsoft Azure has become one of the primary infrastructure ecosystems supporting enterprise generative AI deployments.

WinWire participates in Microsoft’s Agentic Partner Alliance Program, and the combined organization is expected to expand co-selling and co-innovation efforts with Microsoft across cloud, data, and AI services.

The acquisition further strengthens NTT DATA’s Global Business Unit for Microsoft Cloud, which already spans more than 50 countries and includes over 24,000 Microsoft certifications.

Microsoft executive Stephen Boyle said enterprise demand for AI transformation is creating growing need for highly specialized implementation partners.

“As enterprises look to unlock the full value of AI on Microsoft Azure, the role of skilled partners has never been more critical,” Boyle said.

The deal reflects a broader wave of consolidation across the IT consulting and digital transformation industry as global technology service firms race to acquire specialized AI engineering talent and cloud-native expertise.

Large enterprises increasingly require integrated partners capable of handling infrastructure modernization, data engineering, AI governance, cybersecurity, application development, and managed services simultaneously — particularly as AI systems become embedded across core business operations.

WinWire CEO Ashu Goel said the acquisition would allow the company to scale its AI transformation capabilities to a much larger global customer base.

“Together, we are well positioned to accelerate innovation and shape the next wave of AI-driven transformation for our clients,” Goel said.

The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Rothschild & Co advised NTT DATA on the acquisition.
