The final of the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 was followed by an audience of 465,000 viewers on RTP 1.

In Portugal, an average audience of 465,000 viewers watched the final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. The show had a share of 11.2%. This is a drop of 401,000 viewers and 11.3 percentage points of audience share compared to 2025. Overall, this is the smallest audience for a Eurovision final in Portugal since 2019, when Portugal last failed to qualify for the Grand Final.

Bandidos do Cante represented Portugal at Eurovision 2026 with the song “Rosa” and failed to qualify for the Grand Final. They finished 12th in Semi-Final One scoring 74 points, formed of 39 points from the juries and 35 points from the public vote.

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964, represented by António Calvário. The country finished last, scoring nul points. Before 2017, Portugal’s best result was 6th place, which came in 1996 when Lúcia Moniz performed “O meu coração não tem cor” in Oslo. In 2017, Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar pelos dois”, ending a 53-year wait for a Portuguese win. The 2018 contest was held in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for the first time.
