PV Gas, a subsidiary of state-owned Petrovietnam, has received nearly 120,000 metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as it moves to secure fuel supplies against rising domestic energy demand and volatile global markets.
On June 7, the Methane Mickie Harper delivered around 73,000 metric tons of LNG from Canada to the Thi Vai LNG terminal in southern Vietnam, marking one of the company’s largest LNG cargoes received so far this year. The shipment is intended to supplement fuel supplies for gas-fired power plants.
A further LNG cargo of approximately 15,000 metric tons from Australia is scheduled to arrive on June 17-18, while PV Gas is also arranging procurement for another shipment expected in early July to supply PV Power, strengthening fuel availability for the country’s power sector.

Separately, the Clipper Wilma has delivered about 45,000 metric tons of LPG imported from the United States, boosting inventories and supporting stable supplies for residential, commercial and industrial consumers during a period of elevated demand.
PV Gas said it has secured around 140,000 metric tons of LPG imports, including refrigerated and pressurised LPG, for delivery in June and July. Combined with domestic production, the volumes are expected to fully meet demand from local customers and the nationwide Petrovietnam Gas-branded distribution network.

The simultaneous arrival of large LNG and LPG cargoes underscores the company’s efforts to proactively manage fuel procurement and support Vietnam’s energy security during the peak consumption season.
The company is also leveraging infrastructure investments, including the Thi Vai LNG terminal and large-scale refrigerated LPG storage facilities, to expand its capacity to receive, store and distribute cleaner energy products as the country advances its energy transition.
PV Gas said total LNG imports in the first six months of 2026 reached approximately 354,000 metric tons. Together with the 140,000 metric tons of LPG secured for upcoming deliveries and domestic gas and LPG production, the company said supplies would be sufficient to meet demand from electricity generation, industrial users and households.
The company said its procurement strategy supports the government’s efforts to ensure national energy security, stabilize domestic markets, and promote sustainable economic growth.
