Surveillance shows no deployed Russian nuclear warheads in Belarus, but NATO warns logistics could allow rapid deployment if Moscow decides to act.
Belarus does not have Russian nuclear weapons on its territory, a senior NATO official said during a briefing with journalists in Brussels.
According to the official, there are currently no signs of deployment of such weapons, but there are logistical and servicing capabilities there for Russia to quickly deploy them if needed.
“We do not currently see any signs of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus,” said the official. “But there are, of course, logistical and servicing capabilities there for Russia to quickly deploy nuclear weapons there if it wishes.”
